A woman has died after a car crashed into a tree last night (Wednesday).
It happened on the B6271 near the Streetlam turnoff, north of Northallerton at around 6.55pm yesterday (Tuesday).
A red Kia Stonic left the road and crashed into a tree.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Despite the efforts of people who stopped to help and emergency service responders, the woman who was driving the Kia was pronounced dead.
“The road was closed until just after 1am today to allow the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to attend and for the vehicle to be recovered.
“We would like to appeal for any witnesses to the collision who have not yet spoken to us.
“We would also like to be contacted if you have any dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision or of the vehicle driving along the B6271 prior to the collision.”
