It’s not often we report a price drop but one major attraction in the York area has made this statement today.
It comes from Tom Pearcy at York Maze.
“I welcome the Chancellor’s ‘Great British Summer Savings’ initiative. In reducing VAT to 5% it will help make visits to attractions like York Maze more affordable for families this summer.
“We have now cut ticket prices to take account of the reduced VAT rate which means visitors will on average save £3 per person on their day out at York Maze this summer.
He says tickets start from just £19.50 now. Mr Pearcy goes on:
“Anyone who has already purchased tickets to visit this summer will be contacted and refunded the difference in price.
“We have taken a lot of bookings already and only have a small office team so we would ask customers to bear with us while we work through the refunds over the next week.”
He also added: “Although the Government’s scheme ends on 1st September, we know that many schools in our region don’t go back until later that week or even the following week. York Maze is staying open longer this year until Thursday 3rd September and we will extend our Great British Summer Savings prices right through until we close ensuring local families are not disadvantaged.”
This year at York Maze they are marking Sir David Attenborough 100 years on Planet Earth with their maze design.
They open from Saturday 11th July to Thursday 3rd September 2026 after which the crop will be harvested.
