It’s not long now until book lovers can visit the new Waterstones at Monks Cross.
We reported last month that the major book retailer was opening a second York store at the shopping park – and now it’s been announced that it’ll have its grand opening on Saturday 18 October at 9am.
They’ve also teased on social media that they ‘hope to open the doors a little earlier’ with a soft launch on Friday 17 October.
It’s not only book lovers that can look forward to the opening – as Waterstones Monks Cross will also have a special vinyl section. As well as all the latest vinyls, it’ll be stocking record players and all the accessories you need.
The new shop at Monks Cross will run concurrently alongside Waterstones York on Coney Street. The high street location has been open since April 2014.
Waterstones was sold to private equity group Elliott Management in 2018. Its boss James Daunt told the FT earlier this year that 12 new stores were opened last year and he planned to “do that or more” this year.
