The second was on Stockton Lane at 11.27pm, where the victim’s CCTV recorded these images.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Unfortunately the footage is not of sufficient quality to identify the offender.

“Police are appealing for residents of York who live on the route from Penyghent to Stockton Lane to check any CCTV cameras they have to see if clearer images can be obtained that would assist us in our attempts to identify the suspect.

“Please could any businesses along the route check footage and anyone who may have been driving with dashcams check their cameras also.

“It is likely the offender would have walked along Bad Bargain Lane and may have then gone Burnholme Drive or the Applecroft Road routes to get to Stockton Lane however surrounding streets are also possible.”
