City of York Council are reminding road users that upgrades to two roads will result in travel disruption later this month.
It is carrying out resurfacing works on Bishopthorpe Road and Elvington Lane (B1228).
Work will start on Bishopthorpe Road tomorrow evening (Friday 31 May) and be complete by Wednesday 19 June, weather permitting.
Bishopthorpe Road will be closed north of its junction with Beresford Terrace and south of the junction with Campleshon Road to traffic on these dates:
- 6.30 pm on Friday 31 May to 2am on Saturday 1 June.
- 8am to 6pm on Sunday 2 June.
- 8am to 6pm on Sunday 16 June.
- 6.30pm on Monday 17 June to 2am on Wednesday 19 June.
Pedestrian and cyclist routes will be maintained, where possible, to allow access to properties and homes safely.
Roadworks on Elvington Lane (B1228) will begin on Monday (3 June), and be complete by Tuesday 11 June, weather permitting.
These works will require the road to be closed between 7pm to 6am on weekdays.
A City of York Council spokesperson said: “Weekend work is not expected to be necessary.
“Due to the lack of a continuous footpath on Elvington Lane, during the road closure, pedestrian access will only be possible by speaking to an on-site staff member at the boundary of the roadworks, to enable safe access to any properties.
“Delays are expected, so please plan ahead when making any journeys in the area during the works. Emergency services will always be permitted access during the closures. Residents have already been alerted to the closures.”
Bus diversions are expected on these routes on Friday 31 May, and from Monday 17 June to Wednesday 19 June after 6.30pm. These will include the Bishopthorpe-bound Number 11 service, the York-bound Number 11 service and the Number 26 service via Balmoral Terrace.
