Restaurant guide SquareMeal have revealed their Top 100 UK Restaurants for 2026 – and several York and North Yorkshire venues are on the list.
The list is compiled based on ‘performance, value, and quality’, with the restaurants nominated by the readers themselves.
Highest on the list is Myse in Hovingham, York, placed 16, known for serving up a modern British tasting menu that draws on North Yorkshire’s rich history.
In their review of Myse, SquareMeal describes it as offering ‘expertly polished, proper northern welcome and mind-bendingly good, gallery-worthy food’.
The other restaurants on the list located in York and North Yorkshire are:
- The Angel at Hetton, in Skipton, North Yorkshire – placed 26
- Hansom Restaurant in Bedale, North Yorkshire – placed 35
- Shaun Rankin Grantley Hall in Ripon, North Yorkshire – placed 37
- Roots in Marygate, York – placed 56
- The Abbey Inn in Byland, York – placed 60
- Forge at Middleton Lodge, North Yorkshire – placed 66
- The Black Swan at Oldstead, York – placed 72
- Skosh in Micklegate, York – placed 86
- Legacy at The Grand, in Station Rise, York – placed 100
It’s no secret that York and North Yorkshire produce some of the best food in the region, and it’s fantastic to see so many make the list.
