Suspected drug driver arrested in York after failing to stop for police

A driver has been arrested after a police operation in York.

Officers attempted to stop the car on Hull Road on Sunday evening after a tip-off that the driver had been using drugs.

But it made off.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers conducted a rapid search across York which led us to locate and arrest the driver in the Strensall area.”

The driver has been released pending further enquiries for offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop, possession of drugs and drug driving offences.

Less than a day later police located a vehicle on Hull Road in York. It was seized for having no insurance and reported to the DVLA for no tax.

The spokesperson said: “If you know of anyone involved in drugs, or driving under the influence of drugs please speak with a member of your local Neighbourhood Policing Team or contact police via 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.”
