Survey works to close main York road

A York road is to close for several hours for three days next week.

Tower Street will be shut between midnight and 5am on Tuesday to Thursday (3 to 5 February) for survey works.

It’s between the junctions with the Castle (Eye Of York) and Paragon Street.

A notice says: “It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0001hrs and 0500hrs
each day of the works period and that the road will only be closed in phases of one direction at a time. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Inner Ring Road.”

Tower Street is set to be part of York’s first sustainable transport corridor. This will see most private cars banned with priority given to buses.
