A late night incident in Eastfield near Scarborough saw police out in force.
Officers were called to an address on Westway after it was reported that a man had a machete.
Several men ran from the property, and one was stopped nearby and arrested.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A second man was seen to attend another address in Eastfield.
“We secured the property, placed a cordon for the safety of the community, and engaged with the resident of the address through a police negotiator. Following a stand-off, we identified the second man and arrested him.
“A machete has been recovered following searches in the area.

“There was a large police presence in Eastfield in relation to this incident, to allow us to keep our residents safe and to locate the offenders.
“We are making enquiries to locate and arrest a third man involved in the incident.”
