Six people injured in two-car crash near York

Six people were hurt in a serious crash near York last night (Friday).

Emergency services were called to the two-car crash on the A64 near Huntington at 5.38pm.

The road was closed for nearly 12 hours by the incident.

Fire crews from from Malton, York and Acomb went to the scene.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate one casualty from their vehicle  into the care of paramedics.

“The other five casualties were out prior to crews arrival.

“The incident was left in the hands of police who were carrying out an investigation.”

York road users said it was a dangerous stretch of road. On Facebook, one said: “We got caught up in this it looked terrible I hope everyone is OK.”

Another said: “I hate that road. The cut across is do dangerous.”
