Updated: Severe delays and cancellations to London-bound York trains

There’s serious disruption on trains travelling south from York today (Wednesday).

A person was hit by a train between Stevenage and Peterborough this morning.

While the emergency services carried out their work, all lines between these stations were closed.

The line has now reopened but problems continue.

National Rail said this afternoon: “The emergency services have completed their work following an earlier incident where a person was hit by a train.

“This has allowed lines between Stevenage and Peterborough to reopen. Whilst service recovers, trains may still be delayed by up to 120 minutes, revised or cancelled.

“Major disruption is expected until 5pm.”

It’s affecting passengers travelling from York, Selby, Thirsk and Northallerton using LNER, Grand Central and Hull Trains.

Passengers have been advised to delay their journeys if they can. Rail replacement buses are being sourced.

You can use your ticket on different services. All the details are here.

LNER tickets for travel today, Wednesday, may be used at no extra cost up to and including Thursday 11 June.

Disruption is expected until mid afternoon.
