A serious crash closed a long stretch of the A64 today (Sunday).
The eastbound carriageway of the road was shut for several hours between the A1237 York outer ring road and the A1M at junction 44.
The road has now reopened.

Earlier, North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The eastbound carriageway of the A64 is currently closed due to a serious collision.
“Junction 44 of the A1(M) is currently closed to prevent traffic accessing the A64.
“Delays are likely. Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible or use alternative routes while emergency services remain in attendance.
“Thank you for your patience.”
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the scene.
Then, shortly before 3pm, National Highways Yorkshire posted on X that the road had reopened.
