A serious crash closed a section of the A64 in both directions on Friday evening.
However, the road reopened shortly before 5am on Saturday.
The collision was the area north of York around Whitwell on the Hill. It was first reported around 6pm.
National Highways said: “The A64 in North Yorkshire is closed in both directions between the A1237 (York) and B1248 (Malton) due to a serious collision.
“Emergency services including North Yorkshire Police are in attendance.
“Recovery are on scene and are removing the vehicles involved. There has also been an oil spillage on the carriageway that will be assessed and treated before the carriageway reopens.
“Traffic is being diverted via local routes.”

North Yorkshire Police posted: “Please avoid the A64 around Whitwell on the Hill. We are working at the scene of a serious collision there.
“The road is completely closed in both directions and likely to remain so for some time.
“Please seek alternative routes.”
The A64 is now open again and traffic is running normally.
