Search and rescue helicopter brought in after man falls at Bempton Cliffs

A major rescue operation was launched in Bridlington after a man fell over a cliff last night (Tuesday).

It happened at Bempton Cliffs near Bridlington.

Bridlington and Filey Coastguard Rescue Teams worked with the RNLI, police, fire and ambulance to help the man who had slipped down an embankment.

Coastguard teams lowered a technician by rope to the casualty and secured him for recovery to the top of the cliff.

But during the recovery attempt, the man’s condition deteriorated, and it became clear he couldn’t be rescued in this way.

They requested the assistance of a search and rescue helicopter. It successfully lifted the casualty to the cliff top where he was treated by paramedics.

Bridlington Coastguard said: “This incident highlights the effective multi-agency response and the close cooperation between emergency services, ensuring the safest and most efficient outcome for the casualty.”
