Plans for the future of an empty York shop have been lodged.
An application from Eddie and Jenny Copley-Farnell would see the vacant Boots pharmacy, in Clifton, turned into The Curious Coffee Company café.
Plans stated the conversion would bring the ground floor of the building, which has been vandalised, back into use.
It follows the closure of the Boots in February 2024 as part of the company’s plans to cut the amount of its high street pharmacies.
The new plans propose fitting new hanging and facia signs to the front the building along with new window graphics following the conversion of the store, opposite Clifton Green.
The Curious Coffee Company already has cafés in Haxby and Easingwold and the one planned for Clifton would be able to seat up to 40 people.
Plans stated no other potential tenants had come forward in the more than two years since the pharmacy closed and the old Boots hanging sign had been targeted by vandals.
The application stated: “This shop sits within a collection of local shops, a pub and convenience stores in the area also there are several commercial units nearby with staff.
“They all tend to use the Clifton Green grouping of shops and the public house like a local village area.
“The Curious Coffee Company already has coffee shops in Haxby and Easingwold, they have become destinations of choice for the locals in those areas.”
