Sacked North Yorkshire police officer faces hearing after ‘propositioning PC for sex’

A former North Yorkshire police officer is to face a misconduct hearing over allegations he propositioned a woman colleague for sex.

Christopher Hudson is accused of ‘discreditable conduct’.

His hearing will take place at the North Yorkshire Police HQ in Northallerton on Friday, 12 July.

The allegations refer to a period more than three years ago, between 3 February 2021 and 9 February 2021.

It is said that Mr Hudson was in a police van with another officer only referred to as “PC A” on 3 February 2021 and “suggested that the two of you should have sex in the police van”.

The allegations continue: “On 8 February 2021 you took PC A out driving in a police van. During that drive, you drove to Stonefall Cemetery, Harrogate.

“You told PC A it was a place known for ‘dogging’.

“You stopped the van, and then propositioned PC A for sex, saying that no one would ever know.

“PC A told you that the two of you should not do anything, and that she did not want to do anything. You persisted, telling PC A to move to the middle seat of the van.”

He is then alleged to have kissed PC A, put her hand on his groin and put his own hand on her groin.

“PC A told you that she did not want anything to happen.

“You told PC A words to the effect that now you had kissed, you might as well have sex, as the repercussions would be the same if you were found out.

“You told PC A that you thought she had been teasing you. PC A replied that she was not teasing you, and that she could not have been clearer that she did not want anything to happen.”

Mr Hudson is then alleged to have driven to a remote pub, the Traveller’s Rest, and said to PC A words to the effect of, “Right, what about here?”

In February 2023, Mr Hudson, who was then 32, was found not guilty of the single charge of sexual assault at Leeds Crown Court.

Sacked last year

Mr Hudson was sacked by North Yorkshire Police after a misconduct hearing last year.

This found he lied about being arrested and made further false declarations during his vetting process.

Mr Hudson had been arrested both for criminal damage and arson in 2006 but failed to declare this. He also failed to disclose his friendship with a man serving a six year jail sentence for robbery, despite visiting him in prison seven times.

He was dismissed without notice after the chair of the misconduct panel, the then Chief Constable Lisa Winward found his dishonesty amounted to gross misconduct.

The 12 July hearing will consider whether his “treatment of PC A constitutes conduct so serious as to lead to your dismissal, had you not ceased to be a member of North Yorkshire Police, and accordingly amounts to gross misconduct”.
