Rescue launched after loose boat heads down the river in York

Fire crews worked with the York Rescue Boat team on a river incident last night.

They were called out to the River Ouse near Skeldergate Bridge at 10.21pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from York responded to a request for assistance from police after a loose unoccupied boat had been reported heading down the river.

“Crews liaised on scene with York Rescue Boat who gained control of the loose boat and no fire service action was required. The incident was left with York Rescue Boat.”

On Facebook, York Rescue Boat said: “Volunteer crews called out to an incident in the city centre. Working with partner agencies North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and North Yorkshire Police.”
