A raider who tried to hold up a North Yorkshire petrol station got more than he bargained for.
It happened at the Esso garage on Harrogate Road, Ripon last night (Wednesday).
The suspect tried to rob the shop. Staff then locked him in the premises and called 999.
Incident location
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Despite their efforts, the man broke glass and exited the shop.
“A short time later, officers arrested a suspect nearby.
“A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of theft and burglary. Our enquiries are continuing.”
The incident was caught on camera in a video that’s been circulated on social media.
