Popular York charity challenge is back – here’s how to sign up

St Leonard’s Hospice is calling on local businesses to take on its Accumulator Challenge next month.

2026 marks the 10th year of the Challenge for the Hospice, which has raised £186,000 for patient care since its inception, thanks to the local business community.

Once again, teams of six will be given a loan of £30, with the aim of generating as much profit as possible in just 30 days. Previously, teams have organised car washes, sponsored challenges, bake sales and quiz nights.

Alongside a prize for the team that raises the most, awards will be presented in three other categories at a special awards ceremony taking place on Thursday 2 April

Emma Brownbridge, director of Indigo Greens Estate Agents, said: “Taking part in the St Leonard’s Hospice Accumulator Challenge has become something we genuinely look forward to at Indigo Greens.

“We’ve been involved for the last few years and it’s a brilliant way to support a charity that means so much to our community.

“The challenge brings our team together, gives everyone a real boost and creates a shared sense of purpose outside the day-to-day of running an estate agency.

“It’s fun, motivating and a fantastic team-building experience, all while raising vital funds for an incredible cause. We’re proud to support St Leonard’s and play a small part in the amazing work they do.”

Annie Keogh, corporate partnerships development fundraiser at St Leonard’s, said: “The Accumulator Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for businesses in our community to build teamwork, develop entrepreneurial skills and enjoy a little friendly rivalry at the same time, all while raising vital funds for the Hospice.

“As a charity, we rely on the generosity of our community and local businesses like Indigo Greens to help us provide our care and support to people across our region when they need it most.

“We’re really grateful to every business that takes part in this challenge and always look forward to seeing the fun and innovative ways that teams get involved.”

The Accumulator Challenge takes place between Saturday 7 February and Sunday 8 March, and you can visit St Leonard’s Hospice’s website to register a team.
