Police have seized this electric bike seen speeding around a York suburb.
Officers intervened after seeing the rider racing down Gale Lane in Acomb.
The bike had been illegally modified to make it faster.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “This bike could reach a free wheel throttle speed of 68 mph which with a rider on would be capable of 30mph-plus.
“In addition to this the bike had bald tyres and only one brake. These bikes cause a serious risk to the both the rider and other members of the public.”
A “free wheel throttle speed” is the high, unrestricted speed an e-bike can achieve using the throttle alone, with the pedals not engaged.
According to a poem published by police on Facebook, the rider crashed and was thrown from their bike. They then made a getaway through someone’s garden before being arrested.
The spokesperson added: “Due to it being fully electric powered the bike has been seized for no insurance and is due to crushed.
“This is part of the of the on going Operation Pendulum designed to tackle illegal use of e-bikes across the city. “
