Police have safely disarmed a person in a crisis in York today (Monday).
The city’s neighbourhood policing team (NPT) were involved in the negotation.
North Yorkshire Police posted on their social channels: “An officer from the York city centre NPT negotiated the safe removal of a large knife from a person in mental health crisis today.
“Officers took time to listen and support the person and a plan was put in place for ongoing care by appropriate agencies.
“Our thoughts are with you.”
It proved to be a busy day for the NPT. The team recovered this stolen motorbike.

“The bike is now going to be examined for forensic evidence in support of a prosecution and it will then be handed back to it’s rightful owner,” the force said.
And the team issued a thank you to “members of the public who assisted PC 1016 in his pursuit of a wanted male.
“Thanks to their assistance in a car and by lending a bicycle, a male wanted for house burglary is currently in custody.”
