‘It’s a thing of beauty’: York City’s new kit revealed, complete with central badge

They’ve called it a kit ‘built for the Football League.’

York City today revealed their new home kit as they prepare for a return to league status in the coming season.

It features a central badge, harking back to classic kits of the past.

Here’s how the club describes it: “Attention to detail oozes through the shirt, with the light navy collar made in a ribbed fabric for comfort and the collar and side panel inserts made from a contrasting breathable fabric.

“The body is a subtle tonal pinstripe, which again harks back to numerous historical kits. The back neck collar carries the York City Lion with the Yorkshire rose to the front hem along with the badge of authenticity from Hummel.

“This season, we also have the kit available in long sleeve as well as the women’s first team version in a female fit.”

Fans have largely been positive so far. “It’s a thing of beauty,” one said on X.

The Y Front fanzine team commented: “The red and navy shades are really on point.”

A fan on Facebook said: “I like the badge in the middle, I like it appears to be a proper badge not a cheap transfer. I like the colours, I like the stripes.

“I’m not keen on the collar, that back to when I played a bit I always found myself pulling at a round neck collar to stretch it.”

The new shirt will go on sale in-store and online from 10am Thursday!
