Police were called in after another fire was started deliberately in a York suburb last night (Tuesday).
We reported on Monday that officers were stepping up their patrols in Tang Hall as trouble flared in the area, “including incidents of arson”.
At 7.57pm last night fire crews were called to Hull Road park off Alcuin Avenue to another such incident.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and left the incident in the hands of North Yorkshire Police.
“The cause of the fire was deliberate.”
There have been several fires started deliberately in the park as well as one at St Nick’s Nature Reserve in recent days.
In their statement on Monday, North Yorkshire Police said: “Arson is a serious offence with potentially life-threatening consequences. We urge anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and assist us in our investigation.
“Our officers are increasing patrols in affected areas to deter further anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to residents.
“If you witness any suspicious behaviour, please report it to us immediately.”
Call 101 with any information.
