Police appeal after moped stolen and then trashed in York

Police have appealed for witnesses after a moped was stolen then found badly damaged.

The moped was taken sometime between 1.30am and 2.30am on Monday (24 April) from Vine Street in York.

It was later discovered at around 8am by a member of the public on Scarcroft Green. A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Unfortunately it had sustained extensive damage.”

The moped is a black Honda with red and white body work.

The force spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the theft, or anyone who recalls seeing the moped in the early hours of the 24 April to contact them.

“They’d particularly like to hear from any local residents who may have captured CCTV, door bell or dash camera footage.”
