Police appeal after hit-and-run motorway crash

A motorist drove off after crashing into another car on the A1(M), shunting it onto the verge.

Police are asking for the public’s help in find the hit-and-run driver.

It happened between Boroughbridge (Junction 48) and Dishforth (Junction 49) on the northbound carriageway between 5am and 5.15am yesterday (Monday, 31 March).

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A grey Citroen C3 was travelling north in lane one when it was hit from behind by a black vehicle and came to rest on the verge of the motorway.

“The black vehicle failed to stop and continued north.

“We are appealing to anyone travelling along the A1 who either witnessed the incident or has any dashcam footage of the incident or the moments before it, to contact us.”

The driver of the Citroen suffered minor injuries in the crash.
