It was the perfect night.
Beautiful weather, amazing music, a big crowd and a spectacular finale – the York Proms delivered on every level.
Organiser Rebecca Newman put on a fantastic show, featuring a live orchestra, amazing soloists and the fabulous fireworks finish.
Hosted by YorkMix, the evening began with people picnicking in the beautiful Museum Gardens.
Many in the crowd had come in full proms regalia, featuring union flags on hats, shirts, skirts and waistcoats.
The music came courtesy of the orchestra under the baton of conductor Ben Crick, and featured tenor Joshua Baxter and soprano Jane Burnell. They thrilled the audience with a mix of classic favourites to film music.
NE Theatre and Lucy’s Pop Choir added to the entertainment.
Then came the the flag-waving finale and those amazing pyrotechnics.
Roll on next year – when the York Proms may be staged over two nights!
