Passenger attacked member of staff on York train

A member of staff on a train to York was attacked by a passenger after he was found without a ticket.

Now British Transport Police have released images of a man they want to trace in connection with their investigation.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, 15 October, on a service travelling from Bridlington to York.

Just after leaving Selby, the victim asked a man to show his ticket. When he was unable to produce one or buy a ticket, he was told to leave the train at the next stop, Sherburn-in-Elmet.

As he exited the train, the man punched the staff member in the face before fleeing the station.

The victim sustained bruising but didn’t require hospital treatment.

Officers believe the man pictured may have information that could help their investigation.
