A paddling pool in the city of Ripon can finally be reopened after residents expressed frustration that it wasn’t available during the heatwaves.
North Yorkshire Council says the pool, just off Harrogate road, is scheduled to be filled this Friday (17th July).
Tonight there was an explanation for the delay at the Ripon City Council meeting (Mon 13 July).
Cllr Andrew Williams said that fears that chlorinated water from the pool was being discharged into the River Skell had proved unfounded. But before it could reopen there had to be extensive tests to find out where the water was actually being drained to.
Those tests showed that in fact it was being discharged into the sewer and there wasn’t a problem. They change the water in the pool twice a week.
That was why there was a delay in reopening it.
Ripon City Council has confirmed that it will be funding the toilet facilities throughout the summer holidays.
