A North Yorkshire Police officer is facing allegations he sent an offensive image to a colleague.
An accelerated misconduct hearing for PC 1593 James Spencer will take place on Thursday (1 August) at the force’s Northallerton HQ.
It will be chaired by the Chief Constable Tim Forber.
The allegation reads: “On 10 September 2023 whilst off duty you sent an unsolicited offensive image of yourself, namely an image of your penis, to PC A.
“The above conduct breached the standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Discreditable Conduct and Authority Respect and Courtesy which individually and/or cumulatively amounts to Gross Misconduct.”
This would amount to a breach of “standard of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct and authority, respect and courtesy”.
If found guilty, PC Spencer could face a range of sanctions, up to and including dismissal.
Although the public can register to attend the hearing, parts of it “may be held in private to protect sensitive and confidential information”.
Reporting restrictions may also be imposed by the Chief Constable in his role as chairman.
