Earlier today (Thursday 18 June), Police received reports of a man acting suspiciously on Church Street in Norton.
There was also a report and image posted on social media that a man had been seen in the street with a gun.
North Yorkshire Police say that a man has come forward to assist with enquiries which are continuing.
A spokesman said: “We would like to reassure you all that there are no risks to the public and thank you to everyone who called in with their concerns.”
No further comment has been made at this stage
