New world record set at Elvington on a day of spectacular speed action

York felt the need. The need for speed.

That much was obvious as thousands of people headed to Elvington Airfield yesterday (Sunday) to enjoy the fast and furious fun of the Ultimate Supercar show.

It was a day of thrilling action as some of the world’s most high-powered cars hit speeds above 200mph on the runway.

And one man set a new world record!

Stunt biker Jonny Davies set a record for the ‘fastest speed dragged behind a motorcycle’. He hit an incredible 160mph while holding on to the back of his Kawasaki bike while wearing specially made titanium ‘skis’ fitted to his boots.

Afterwards he talked to YorkMix‘s own Leigh Nicholson about the incredible achievement – see the video below.

Elsewhere, there was the screech of tyres and incredible acceleration as speed machines competed to be the fastest one-on-one in the drag races.

Some of the most amazing cars on the planet – including Ferraris, Porsches and McLarens – were on display.

With food, drink, fairground rides and stalls, it was a great day out for all ages.

YorkMix was delighted to be media partner for the event – and Mixie the Monster made a popular appearance.

The organisers of the Ultimate Supercar show thanked everyone for coming – and said “See you next year!
