New double yellow lines set to appear on dozens of streets in York

New double yellow lines are set to appear on dozens of roads across York.

Streets in the city centre, suburbs and outlying villages are included in the proposed changes. They are all listed below.

City of York Council published a traffic regulation order which names more than 120 stretches of road where ‘no waiting’ will be introduced.

It includes busy York streets including

  • Albemarle Road
  • Broadway in Fulford
  • Campleshon Road next to York Racecourse
  • Hamilton Drive
  • Hempland Lane
  • Heslington Lane
  • Micklegate
  • Rawcliffe Drive
  • Queen’s Staith
  • Shipton Road
  • Stockton Lane
  • Straylands Grove.

The new proposals would become permanent if agreed after a consultation process, City of York Council says.

Dave Atkinson, the council’s director of environmental and regulatory services, told the York Press: “These changes are being introduced as part of our regular review of the Parking, Stopping and Waiting Order for the city.

“This is an important part of the way we keep the city moving, making our roads as accessible as possible for everyone making their way through, across and to our city.”
