More changes to Hull Road buses as diversions brought in ‘with four hours’ notice’

There have been more changes to buses as the Hull Road resurfacing work continues in York.

Residents in part of York are complaining again about the short notice of the alterations.

Work is now taking place from the Tang Hall Lane traffic lights to Tranby Avenue and Field Lane roundabout, which will be closed between 8pm and 5am every weekday until 15 October.

Changes to night-time stopping patterns on Hull Road by the Badger Hill shops have been made due to the roadworks.

The 8, 10, 10L  X46 and X47 will be diverted and this means an extra ten minutes walk for passengers.

Any routes following the diversion won’t be able to serve the stops at Windmill Lane, Archbishop Holgate’s School, Badger Hill shops, Canham Grove or B&Q during the night time closure.

Local Liberal Democrat activist Andrew Mortimer says the short notice was unacceptable.

He said: “We’ve been doing these roadworks for two weeks now, and they’re suddenly decided with four hours’ notice they’re going to have to divert the buses.

“It’s not very well communicated.

“The road needs resurfacing. We’re very happy about that, but there must be some better planning could have taken place, and this which just seems to be a very off the cuff reaction at the last minute.”

York council previously apologised for mistakenly coning off a bus stop near Badger Hill.

We have asked the council for an update.
