A member of the public came to a person’s aid after they accidentally fell into the River Foss last night (Friday).
Emergency services were called to the river in York at 9.36pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Tadcaster and Acomb crews assisted with rescuing a person who had accidentally fallen into the River Foss.
“A member of the public had seen the person in the water and called the fire service whilst holding onto them and did so until arrival of crews.
“Crews used throw lines and a ladder to pull person out the water and then administered first aid until the ambulance arrived.
“The person was taken to hospital for a precautionary check up.”
