Police are investigating a disturbance in broad daylight on a busy York road.
It happened at 3.45pm on Sunday 16 November on James Street between Morrisons and Lidl link road.
A man ran into the bushes with what looked like a large knife.
The suspect is described as a man in his late teens, approximately 5ft 11in, slim build, with medium length dark hair.
The suspect was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, black trouser bottoms and black trainers.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re particularly appealing for information about a man seen at the same time matching the description above, and also if anyone was passing by at the time, either on foot or in a vehicle with dashcam.”
