Man needs hospital treatment after being bitten by dog in Selby

A man was bitten by a dog in Selby – then the owner denied it had happened.

The incident took place on Doncaster Road at about 8.55am on Sunday (7 June).

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The dog was one of a pair of dogs, that were being walked by a male, who denied that any attack had taken place, and then made off possibly along Green Lane.

“The victim subsequently required hospital treatment.”

The dog owner is described as

  • a white man
  • aged in his 40s
  • wearing a black sweatshirt
  • and black trousers.

The dog that bit the victim is described as a large, brown mastiff-type dog, and the other dog is described as a black terrier.

Police are asking anyone with information or CCTV / dashcam footage to get in touch.
