A man has died following a fire in York today (Thursday).
Police cordoned off a block of flats on St John’s Walk in the Heworth area after the incident.
Emergency services are at the scene and an investigation has been launched.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Reports of a small fire came in at around 1pm today (Thursday).
“Firefighters located an unconscious man as they put the fire out.
“He was recovered to an ambulance but sadly died on the way to hospital.
“His next of kin have been informed.
“A joint police and fire investigation is underway to examine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”
Police taped off the street earlier. The cordon has been lifted.
