Man arrested and 35kg of cocaine seized after suspected drug deal in Selby

Police seized a large amount of cocaine and cash after arresting a suspected drug dealer in Selby.

Officers from both the North Yorkshire force and British Transport Police were on plain clothes patrols in the town last Thursday (20 November).

They saw what they believed was a drug deal taking place in an alleyway off Gowthorpe.

A 23-year-old man from Leeds was arrested, and 35kg of suspected cocaine was seized along with £500 in cash.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The man was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and obstructing a police officer.

“Drug dealing paraphernalia was also recovered from a property in Selby linked to the suspect after officers carried out a search at the address.

“The man was given bail for this investigation to allow for further enquiries to be carried out. However, he was also recalled to prison due to breaching his licence conditions for previous offending and is now back behind bars.”
