Updated: Lines reopen north of York after major disruption

There’s major disruption on the railways north of York this morning (Tuesday).

A person has been hit by a train at Durham. As a result, trains could not run between York and Newcastle.

The lines have now reopened but disruption is expected until 11am.

Where to get help

Earlier, train operator LNER said: “Currently, all railway lines in the area are blocked while the emergency services and Network Rail are on site.

“Trains will be delayed when passing between these stations. Services may also be altered or cancelled at short notice.

“Please check your entire journey using the planner below before you travel.”

Some rail bus replacement services are running.
