Indecent exposure is a serious crime with consequences.
Sometimes called flashing, it’s when a suspect shows their genitals to a person to cause them to feel upset, scared or alarmed.
It can be a shocking and violating experience and can have a long-lasting impact on victims and North Yorkshire Police is reminding the public that the force takes it very seriously.
The majority of incidents go unreported, possibly because victims think they are too “trivial” to report.
Police say they are absolutely not too trivial and may be the start of more serious offending in the future.
If you have been subjected to indecent exposure, Officers say please do not hesitate to report it. For immediate reports and if the suspect is still at the scene, always call 999.
To report an incident that has already happened, you can report online via the police website or by calling 101.
