A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews in breathing apparatus opened shutters to the building and the responsible people on site removed the smoldering waste with a mechanical shovel.
“Fire crews dampened the waste down using a hose reel jet and main jet outside the building as it was removed by the shovel.
“No fire or smoke damage was evident inside the building and natural ventilation was used to remove the residual smoke still inside.”
They were called back at 5.43am to damp down the rubbish after it began smoking again.
