Huge new Next store in York to open within days – with giveaway and prizes

The huge new Next store in York is taking shape ahead of its opening.

The store, based in the Coppergate Centre in the long-empty unit that once housed Topshop, will welcome customers from 10am on Tuesday (2 December).

A ribbon cutting, prizes and giveaways are planned.

Workers have spent weeks transforming the store, which is far bigger than its previous branch on Coney Street, now closed.

Its retail space spans 26,000 sq ft across the key departments of womenswear, menswear, kidswear and home.

The new York store has doubled the menswear space and upsized womenswear by an additional 1,000ft.

A new bath and body works section has been added too. That will sell lotions, soaps and candles.

And the interior includes feature wall finishes, bright lighting and new floors.

Store manager Andrew Chamberlain-Smith said: “It’s so exciting to be opening a fabulous new store in the York city centre.

“The team from Coney Street have moved over and we have doubled the workforce in store, so there are lots of new faces to get to know and work alongside.

“The new store is looking amazing and we can’t wait to welcome customers in to have a look.”

Ribbon cutting and official opening will take place on Tuesday 2 December at 10am.

There are launch offerings, including goody bags for the first 75 customers and scratch card discounts being handed out over the opening weekend.
