Guide dog needed vet treatment after being attacked in York

Police are investigating after a guide dog was attacked and injured in a York suburb.

It happened in Clifton Park Avenue, Clifton, at around 9.20am on Sunday (23 April). 

The guide dog, a black Labrador cross, and a grey lurcher dog confronted each other and were “involved in an altercation,” police say.

The Labrador suffered an injury to her back and was taken to a vets for treatment.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident to come forward.

“They are also appealing to anyone who may have captured the incident on their doorbell or home CCTV cameras to get in touch.”
