Police have stepped in after a large group of young people caused trouble in Selby.
They have now obtained a dispersal order which is in effect all weekend.
In a message to residents on Saturday, PC Heidi McLoughlin said: “A large group of youths who have attended the fair on Scott Road fields have congregated to Abbey Walk and have spent a large part of the day causing anti-social behaviour issues to customers and staff in Sainsbury’s.
PC McLoughlin said that “any youths who continue to cause ASB will be issued a dispersal, to remove them from the immediate area.
“Those who are issued a dispersal order and subsequently breach this run the risk of being arrested.”
She also issued this plea to parents: “If your child has attended the fair, please could you speak to them and advise them not to congregate in large groups.
“We fully appreciate that those causing issues for others are in the minority, however by just being a part of the group, this is compounding the issue.”
