A fox cub has been pulled out of the river in York by one of the York Rescue Boat team.
At 5am this morning (Mon 13 July) whilst out for an early morning walk, one of their volunteer crew heard and saw the fox cub fall into the river.
Unable to swim or get out by itself the crew member was concerned members of the public would enter the water risking their lives to rescue it.
So he grabbed his rescue kit, swam out and recovered the little cub. A woman took it away to be checked over and the plan was to release it back into the wild.
A York Rescue Boat spokesperson said: “We understand he or she is doing well!”
