A former police officer is facing an accelerated misconduct hearing after allegedly failing a drugs test.
Former PC 1049 Ethan Wigglesworth, is alleged to have “breached the standard of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct and fitness for duty”.
The hearing will take place at the North Yorkshire Police HQ in Northallerton on Thursday.
This is the allegation against Mr Wigglesworth:
“Whilst serving as a student officer with North Yorkshire Police, you have been subject to a with-cause drugs test whilst you were on duty on 5 January 2024.
“The testing was conducted by a specialist laboratory which, on 02 February 2024, identified that you had the following substances in your system:
- Androgenic Steroids
- Anabolic Steroids.”
The consumption of these steroids “is not conducive with being a serving police officer.
“In addition, the levels identified are demonstrative of substance misuse and both are in conflict with North Yorkshire policy and amount to a breach of the standards of professional behaviour.”
If former PC Wigglesworth is found guilty of the allegations, it could amount to gross misconduct.
The hearing on Thursday (16 May) will be chaired by North Yorkshire Police Chief Constable Tim Forber.
