Big York restaurant opens – take a look inside

A new restaurant opened its doors in York city centre today (Friday).

Kabul & Istanbul Restaurant is on Low Ousegate.

The family behind the business have spent four months transforming what was the York Souvenirs shop into a big new place to dine.

And for the opening night they’re offering 25% off everything.

Ahmed Dudin from the restaurant told YorkMix it was serving a mix of Turkish and Afghan dishes.

Many are cooked over the charcoal grill, imparting extra flavour, Ahmed said. These dishes are served with rice or chips and salad.

Dishes on the menu include:

  • Lamb Doner – £13.99
  • Lamb Shish – £16.99
  • Vegetarian Kebab – £13.99
  • Char-grilled Sea Bass – £15.99
  • Mantu (Afghan dumplings, seasoned beef and onion) – £11.99

There are also a couple of dishes on the kids’ menu.

There’s room for around 120 diners. And they also cater for outside events and parties.
