Fire started deliberately in North Yorkshire village

A fire that badly damaged a stable in a North Yorkshire village last night (Sunday) was started deliberately.

Crews from Scarborough and Filey responded to the fire in a wooden stable in Hunmanby, Filey at 8.04pm.

The stable measured about 5m by 5m.

Firefighters put out the flames using one hose reel jet and one main jet.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “There was fire damage throughout the structure but no contents within.

“The cause of this fire was believed to be deliberate.”
