Fire crews called to three separate incidents in Acomb

It was a busy shift for Acomb firefighters last night (Wednesday).

They were called out to three separate incidents.

The first was a kitchen fire at 5.19pm. It had broken out on an unattended cooking hob.

The fire was out before fire crews arrived.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Home fire safety advice was given to the occupant after a full inspection had been carried out.”

Then, at 7.24pm, firefighters with knapsack sprayers put out a pile of branches on fire in the open. The fire was started deliberately.

At 9.45pm, the Acomb responded to smoke sighted inside a kitchen. It was smoke caused by cooking fumes.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke.

They were also called to a fire alarm in a commercial premises, but this was a false alarm.
