The family of Elsie Whitehead, age 71, of Reeth, who died after a collision near Northallerton, have sent a message of thanks to those who tried to help her.
“We would like to thank the emergency services for their dedication, care, and compassion.
“We’re also incredibly grateful to the people who stopped to help when it mattered most — knowing others were there and willing to help has been a real comfort and something we will never forget.
“We have also taken great comfort from all of the support and messages of condolence received.”
A red Kia Stonic left the B6271 near the Streetlam turnoff, which is north of Northallerton, and collided with a tree. It happened at around 6.55pm on Tuesday 27 January.
Police want to hear from any witnesses to the collision who have not spoken to them yet.
They would also like to see any dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision or of the vehicle driving along the B6271 prior to the incident.
